The Haggerston West and Kingsland Estates had been part of the London Borough of Hackney’s regeneration plan for over 10 years. The overall site plan was to demolish the existing poor housing stock and redevelop both estates, in two phases, with high quality sustainable housing.
The new development comprised a total of 761 houses and apartments constructed to Code Level 3 for Phase 1 plots and Code Level 4 for phase 2 plots.
Abbey Consultants were appointed to develop the Code for Sustainable Homes Strategies for both phases in close consultation with the rest of the design team, to ensure code level 3 and 4 compliance in an efficient and cost effective way, culminating in the issue of final code certificates for all 761 units in accordance with the code strategies and planning requirements.
We were also appointed to complete SAP’s and EPC’s for the whole development where, again, our understanding of technical and planning issues ensured that we were able to contribute positively to the preparation of the energy and sustainability strategy for this successful scheme.
